THE ANDRE WAY

Getting inside the mind of AVB

Welcome to the Andre Way

Welcome to my new blog!

Yes another blog about Tottenham!

However, the idea of the Andre Way is to understand the mind of the Tottenham manager; the youngest manager in the Premier League and the one charged with handling the expectations of a genuine title challenge from the White Hart Lane faithful.

Spurs haven’t won a top flight title since the days of Bill Nicholson. His legacy lives on at the club today, literally at the stadium where the street leading into the entrance is named after him – Bill Nicholson Way – a nod to the wider influence that this legend brought to North London.

After an impressive first season in charge, where the club achieved their record points tally in the Premier League, Andre Villas-Boas has overhauled a squad from European contenders to potential title challengers.

A lot more has already changed since the Portuguese replaced Harry Redknapp at N17. Spurs recorded their first win at Old Trafford in Premier League history in a season where no club took maximum points from the Lillywhites. Whilst the 2012/13 campaign ended in relative disappointment as the club missed on Champions League qualification by a single point, the future is definitely bright.

With the aid of sporting director Franco Baldini, Villas-Boas has brought in seven major new signings into a squad challenging on all fronts.  Can AVB prove that last season was not one that was solely inspired by Gareth Bale as he attempts to prosper without the world’s most expensive player.

This blog will get into the mind of the Tottenham Hotspur manager. I’ll attempt to understand the tactical thinking employed in matches combined with a reasoning for his actions before, during and after each match, from the training ground to the press room.

I’m optimistic that AVB can finally bring tangible success to a club that prides itself on glory! Let’s hope he does it his way! The Andre Way!
